Les Alzines celebrates a 100% pass rate in the Diploma Programme (DP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB)

Congratulations IB Class of 2026!

Les Alzines has every reason to celebrate once again: the eight students who completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) this year have successfully achieved the Bilingual Diploma Programme, with an outstanding 100% pass rate. This achievement reinforces our school's position as a leading centre for internationally recognised, academically rigorous education in the Girona region. We have been delivering the Diploma Programme since 2008, always in small class groups that run alongside the Spanish Baccalaureate. The result is cohorts of students who are critical thinkers, rigorous researchers and young people committed to making a positive contribution to society.

What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme?

The DP is an educational programme for students aged 16 to 19 that combines:

  1. Six subjects from different areas of knowledge.
  2. An Extended Essay, involving in-depth independent research.
  3. Theory of Knowledge (TOK), which develops critical thinking skills.
  4. Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), encouraging artistic, sporting and voluntary projects while fostering personal growth and social responsibility.

Subjects are taught in Catalan and Spanish, just as in the national Baccalaureate, although students may choose to sit their examinations in Spanish, French or English. Recognised worldwide, the DP provides a rigorous academic education with a strong emphasis on human values, critical thinking and an international outlook.

Why is it so valuable for our students?

  • Preferential access to prestigious universities around the world.
  • Key 21st-century skills: critical thinking, research, communication and independence.
  • A holistic education that connects theory with real-life situations.
  • A dual route to Catalan universities through the UNEDasiss accreditation, allowing students to benefit from the higher score obtained between the national Baccalaureate and the IB Diploma Programme.

Looking to the future

With this latest success, Les Alzines reaffirms its commitment to an education that goes beyond academic qualifications: developing thoughtful, compassionate young people who are committed to society. We warmly congratulate our eight graduates and encourage them to continue being ambassadors for the values of the IB wherever life takes them.

Congratulations, IB Class of 2026!

Ad Astra, to the stars
