The functioning of English in infantil

Dear families,

Considering that we have addressed you in English at the meeting, we have considered it appropriate to explain the functioning of English in infantil. Children come into contact with English on a daily basis through oral communication, songs, games and other activities. It should be borne in mind that we English teachers only address students in this language. In this way, English is everywhere: in the classroom, in the dining room, in the yard, in the corridor, etc. Through this linguistic immersion, the children associate their English teacher and her green stole with the language they must use to communicate with her (in this case, the English language). Little by little, the students enter the world of English, first, they start to hear and feel the uniqueness of the language (at llar and in l3), later they start playing with it, recreating sounds and words (in l4 ) and finally, to produce and follow small conversations (in l5)

● “Song Bag”: It is a musical bag that contains toys for each song. For example, the song “Piggy on the railway” has a pig and a train associated with it.

● "Colour Bag": It is a bag that contains objects of the color that is worked on in that session.

● "Soft Books": Stories in English to work on different content.

● "Early Development": Work on basic content and/or related to the project at that time.

● “Phonics”: It is a system that teaches students the specific sound of each letter in English to help them learn to read and write in this language.

● "Reading": In these sessions the students read Tom and Kate's books with the teacher. Once they are able to read each book, they take it home to show their parents.

Our main goal is to convey to our students that learning a new language should not be boring or difficult, but easy, fun and meaningful.
