A week in “Les Alzines”

Last Monday HomeToHome drove all the way up to Girona to start the English week, a project which allowed the students to learn and practise English as well as understand other cultures.

We believe this “week” is a useful pedagogical method which, through engaging the girls with a variety of activities ranging from arts and crafts to outdoor games, promotes a positive change to a conventional classroom setting. 

Our chosen topic this time was Monsters! We had a lot of fun creating a huge amount of different creatures, new worlds and sharing our feelings through the emotionarium. All the fun tasks were designed to complement a carefully prepared dossier designed for their age.

What do the teachers think about this experience?

4th A - Jun’s class - “They were a bit cheeky and distracted from time to time, however the girls were a lot of fun to work with and I must say one of the best classes I’ve had the pleasure of teaching.”

4th B - Egle´s class - “The girls were brilliant throughout the entire week! They were playful, engaged and eager to learn both in class and in the playground. It was a pleasure to work with them and we became great friends!”

4th C - Agnieszka’s class - “Unforgettable experience… The  girls were very engaged and excited. I can say they progressed considerably in their speaking skills. They really tried to explain everything in english even if their level and vocabulary wasn’t so great.”

We would like to acknowledge the outstanding level of English the girls have for their age in comparison to the many other schools I have worked with while developing educational projects.

To finish we would like to thank the school for the warm welcome we have received, both families hosting us were fantastic, they couldnt be better, many thanks for inviting us to your home.  All the support offered to us whilst working in Les Alzines has helped to make this rewarding experience trouble-free and enjoyable.
